Information queries can be asked and assistence requested for searching in the database (subject headings, thesaurus phrases, combination possibilities etcetera).
The Netherlands and Belgium
Books that were published after 1950 and theses, notes and reports can be borrowed within the Netherlands and Belgium.
You may borrow 5 books at a time for a period of 4 weeks. You can renew the period of loan by telephone or e-mail
mentioning your registration number. The lending period can be renewed 5 times: then the publication has to be shown
to the lending desk before a new lending period starts. If you have not returned the books or prolonged the period of
loan in time you will have to pay 0,50 per book per week.
Borrowing requests can be made via e-mail, stating site, author, title and your name, address and phone number. As of 2003 the price for borrowing books is 0,70 per book per month and a once-only registration fee of 2,80. You can also take out a subscription for 16,35 per year, there is no charge for registration or renewing the period of loan.
Other countries
Requests from abroad must be made via the international library lending association, ask your library.
Photocopies of articles can be requested, stating title, name magazine, year, number and page(s) and your name and address and phone number.
The Netherlands and Belgium
Costs are 0,50 per photocopy, mailing costs included, with a minimum of 2,30.
Other countries
Costs are at a minimum of 11,50 for 1 - 5 pages and 2,50 extra for the next 5 pages. For example,
6-10 pages will cost 14, 11-15 pages 16,50,-.
When requested brief bibliographies can be composed for a subject. Costs 2,30 per bibliography on the basis of 5 search keys or on the basis of time spent, 47,- (19% VAT excl.) per hour and 0,50 per page.
It is possible to apply for tours for a group, after consultation.
The minimum size of the group is 3 persons and the maximum size is 15 persons. The standard tour has a duration of one
hour. Dutch groups will be charged an entrance fee of 25,-, groups from other countries a fee of. 90,- (student groups € 55,-).
For supplying 'customized tours' 22,- per hour will be charged on top of basic fee.
There are study places throughout the dome room. There is a silent study room. Study cells can be booked in advance.
The collection of archives and egodocuments can be examined at the IIAV only.
It is possible at the IIAV to consult archives of other archive-keeping institutes.
